Initial Setup

Step 1:Add Candy-Bot To Your Server

  1. Confirm that Candy-Bot is already present in your server's member list
  2. If the bot is not visible, contact your server administrator

Step 2: Create Required Text Channels

  1. Right-click on your server's channel area
  2. Select "Create Channel"
  3. Choose "Text Channel"
  4. Name it "Announcements"
  5. Click "Create Channel"
  6. Repeat steps 1-5 to create another text channel named "Bot Commands"
  7. Important: In the "Bot Commands" channel, the server owner should post a copy of all server commands for everyone's use

Step 3: Create Bot-Admin Role

  1. Go to your Server Settings (click the server name and select "Server Settings")
  2. Select "Roles" from the left sidebar
  3. Click the "+" button to create a new role
  4. Name the role "Bot-Admin"
  5. Navigate to the "Permissions" tab
  6. IMPORTANT: Enable all permissions by clicking "Select All"
  7. Click "Save Changes"

⚠️ SECURITY WARNING

ONLY ASSIGN THE BOT-ADMIN ROLE TO HIGHLY TRUSTED MEMBERS

This role grants extensive permissions that could potentially be misused.

Bot Configuration

Step 4: Configure Admin Role

  1. In any channel where the bot has access, type /admin
  2. Click "Add Admin Role" from the command options
  3. From the dropdown box that appears, select the "Bot-Admin" role
  4. Press Enter to confirm

Step 5: Set Timezone (Required for All Members)

  1. Type /timezone in a channel
  2. Select your appropriate timezone from the dropdown menu
  3. Press Enter to confirm

Note: Every server member should complete this step to receive notifications at the correct time

Security Settings

Step 6: Actions Security

If the button "Actions Security: Enable" is GREEN:

  • Users without the "Bot-Admin" role can only make "Small Minor Adjustments" to the server
  • Non-admin users risk their account going into lock-down for a period of time if they attempt unauthorized actions
  • A "Bot-Admin" can override this lockdown by releasing affected users

Troubleshooting

If you encounter any issues during setup:

  1. Ensure the bot has proper permissions in your server
  2. Verify that the required channels ("Announcements" and "Bot Commands") exist
  3. Check that the "Bot-Admin" role has been properly configured
  4. Make sure at least one user has been assigned the "Bot-Admin" role
